The Registered Medical Coder (RMC) is an online coding certification containing the gold standard in medical coding content. As a certified member of the Association of Registered Healthcare Professionals (ARHCP), you are held to a higher standard and are required to fulfill the following requirements each year before your renewal date:

  1. Pay the renewal fee.
  2. Submit the 12 required CEUs.
  3. Pass the online update exam.

Before your renewal date, you will also need to submit the required CEUs for the online coding certification (12 required for one credential and six for each additional credential you hold). These documents can be faxed to 678-669-2483 ATTN: Renewal Department or emailed to info@arhcp.org

One-Year or Two-Year Renewal

You have the option of purchasing either the one-year or two-year renewal for your online coding certification. The two-year option gives you a $40 discount, though keep in mind that you will still need to pass the annual RMC update exam and submit the required CEUs each year.

RMC Update Exam

Once you have purchased the renewal fee and submitted the required CEUs, you will be given access to the RMC update exam through the learning site. This update exam will cover the yearly updates for CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS II code sets. You will not need to reference any newsletters (Medical Business Journals) for this exam.

Extension Available

If you feel that you need more time to complete your annual renewal, you have the option of purchasing an extension. This will allow you 30, 60, or 90 days past your renewal date to pay the renewal fee, submit the required CEUs, and pass the RMC update exam (this is a temporary extension).

If you have any questions about your renewal date, CEUs on file, or extension options, contact an ARHCP representative.

Please allow 24-48 business hours for your question to be processed.
